The Little Shop of Physics is a group of science educators and science students based out of Colorado State University. We don't show students science; we help them do science. Our goal is to teach people that science is something anyone can do . . .
The Mission of the Little Shop of Physics• Find creative ways to share the wonder of science.
• Present a unique hands-on science experience to a diverse range of students.
• Involve undergraduates in significant and meaningful service.
• Share ideas and insights with current and future teachers.
The Little Shop of Physics started as a small hands-on science program in the early 1990's. From a relatively slow start, visiting a few schools a year and presenting 25 experiments thrown into the back of a VW bus, Little Shop has grown into a very active program. We've taken the seats out of the back of a 12 passenger van and stuffed it withover 100 experiments, which we take to all kinds of schools all over the region: local high schools, elementary schools on Native American reservations, urban Denver middle schools, and rural schools on the eastern plains with 100 students total. That's just to name a few! Each year we see about 20,000 students—not including the 6,000+ folks who attend our annual Open House.
Every
year the crew of the Little Shop of Physics packs up over 100 hands-on
experiments and travels to schools all over Colorado, in South Dakota,
New Mexico, Wyoming, and Nebraska. We see over 20,000 students each academic year (over 250,000 to date)!

Little Shop of Physics also hosts numerous teacher workshops. Every summer, in conjunction with our partners at CMMAP, Little Shop offers a week long workshop for 40 teachers on how to teach weather and climate.

Every year, the Little Shop of Physics has the unique opportunity to work with students and teachers on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. We offer a teacher workshop at Oglala Lakota College every summer and spend several days visiting schools every winter.

For all the folks that we can't visit, Little Shop of Physics has gone to the media! The EveryDay Science show has been produced with our partners at PSD Channel 10 for over a decade! We have recently started two new species of video podcasts, Tips for Teachers and Science It Up! You can catch all the recent episodes on our podcast page!

We couldn't be what we are now without the help of our staff and our partners. We are always in need of any help you can provide.
