Every
year at the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair, Brian Jones and the
Little Shop of Physics Present the Matthew A. McCausland Memorial Award
to
one student who exlemplifies the Little Shop spirit.
In
the words of the McCausland family: “Matthew A. McCausland was an
ingenious kind-hearted practical inventor who excelled in seeing beyond
traditional uses of everyday objects by finding new ways to use them or
make them better. This Fund was established in Matthew’s memory
specifically to encourage this creative spirit and vision in others.
We
admire these same attributes found in the Little Shop of Physics —
taking everyday objects and using them in new and innovative ways to
teach our next generation about the impact of physics in our everyday
lives. Matthew’s memory lives on through this endowment and through the
youth-oriented programs of the Little Shop of Physics.”

This year's award and $100 prize went by unanimous decision to Rachel Rossi of Miller Middle School. Rachel's science fair project, Radio Wave Round Up, showed creativity, insight, and science flair. It was the most “out of the box.”
Congratulations to Rachel!
